In English we completed a re-tell with an alternative character in using the story ‘The Boy in the Giant’. We also wrote our own version of ‘The Tin Forest. The learners worked on fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases and compound sentences as Grammar focuses and utilised these in their writing.
In Maths we completed work on Place Value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. The learners can identify the value of Hundreds, tens and ones in a 3-digit number and they can add and subtract 2 and 3-digit numbers. They have also built their fluency in their 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10x tables.
In Science the learners have focused on rocks. They can identify the three different types of rocks and their properties. They also know the function of soil.
The learners have also learnt about the human body and the importance of exercise and eating a balanced diet.
In History we have learnt about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and the Iron Age. We looked at how everyday life changed throughout the ages. We had a Stone Age workshop and were able to sharpen arrowheads and explore different animal skins and tools that would have been used in pre-historic times.
In Geography we explored the seven continents and the five oceans. We used atlases to identify the different countries on each continent and re-capped the compass points. We also explored counties and what makes a city, town and village.
In PE we have developed our skills in basketball, tri-golf, dance and football.
In RE we explored morality in different religions. We explored how religious texts and stories offer people guidance on the right choices we should make.
