Perton Primary Academy Local Academy Council has a vacancy for a Parent Member (4 year term). The role of the Local Academy Council (LAC) is very similar to a school governing body and is to:
Full LAC meetings take place half-termly on a Tuesday evening at 5.30pm. In addition training sessions take place in school and at Molineux Stadium on specific topics.
Members are expected to take on a Link Member role, which allows them to develop an area of expertise within the school, be able to scrutinise the school’s performance in that area and offer challenges for improvement.
Ideally, the LAC is seeking Co-opted Members, who are leaders in their own profession, possess sound knowledge of the local area or links with local businesses and have expertise in financial planning & management, premises management, procurement or change management. Although being able to think strategically and having a commitment to improving standards in education is of most importance.
Parent members are nominated and elected by parents of children in our school. If you wish to stand as a candidate for this interesting and challenging position, please complete and return the following in a sealed envelope, marked “Parent LAC Member Nomination Form” to the school office by 4pm, Tuesday 31st October 2017:
It is hoped that the new LAC member will be able to attend the next meeting of the full Governing Body, which is being held at 5.30pm on Tuesday 28th November 2017.

Eligibility to Stand
All parents and guardians of children at the school are eligible to stand as candidates in the election EXCEPT
LAC Members must be over 18 years old, not be bankrupt, nor have served a long prison sentence, nor have been disqualified from working with children. All members are subject to a DBS check.
Eligibility to Vote
Each parent will have one vote.
Some people, who are not parents, but who act as parents/guardians and take care of a child in the school, may also be able to take part. If you or someone else living with you look after a child in this way please contact me to check if you will be able to take part in the election.
If more than two candidates are nominated, we will notify all parents/carers about the election and send out details of the candidates.

SUAT supports and leads in the set-up of new academies joining the partnership. The services provided by the central support function cover both educational and non-educational support. In terms of educational support, SUAT is linked to the School of Education of Staffordshire University, which is an outstanding ITT provider.
