Local Academy Council Vacancies

05th December 2018

The Local Academy Council has vacancies for 1 Co-opted Member and 1 Parent Member.  The role of the Local Academy Council (LAC) is very similar to a school governing body and is to:

  1. Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
  2. Hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school & its pupils and the performance management of staff.
  3. Oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.

Full LAC meetings take place half-termly on a Tuesday morning at 9.30am. In addition, training sessions take place in school and at local venues on specific topics.

Members are expected to take on a Link Member role, which allows them to develop an area of expertise within the school, be able to scrutinise the school’s performance in that area and offer challenges for improvement.

If you have an ability to think strategically and a commitment to improving standards in education along with any of the following:

  • Experience of being a board member at either another school or in another sector
