Important information for parents of young children about flu from Staffordshire County Council
This year we're expecting two particularly strong strains of flu. Flu can be serious for younger children, they may need hospital treatment, and very occasionally a child may die from flu.
So it’s important that they’re vaccinated. It’s not an injection it’s just a quick and painless nasal spray.
In Staffordshire the flu nasal spray is free for:
Your child's GP or school should have contacted you about getting your child vaccinated, if you haven’t heard anything please contact them.
The nasal spray is recommended by the NHS to help protect younger children and also to reduce the spread of flu to their family, carers and friends.
More detailed information and answers to common questions about the flu vaccine are on the NHS Choices web pages visit: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vaccinations/Pages/child-flu-vaccine.aspx
